Early Career

Edwards started boxing when she was 13 years old. After four years of boxing, she transitioned to MMA at the age of 17.

She had seen the UFC on TV in her home of Panama City, but she did not know a gym that taught it.

Regional Success

Edwards compiled a 9-2 record on the regional scene. She won the UCC Women's Bantamweight Championship in her homeland of Panama and defended it twice.

In 2018, she moved to her camp to the United States, where she defeated former Bellator fighter Jessica Middleton via TKO on May 18, 2018, at The Fight Series.

She would then defeat highly touted prospect Brenda Gonzales at KOTC: Aggressive Lifestyle on September 1, 2018, via armbar, in the process winning the KOTC Bantamweight Championship.

UFC Career

Edwards made her UFC debut in January 2021.

Edwards, as a replacement for Bethe Correia, faced Wu Yanan on January 16, 2021, at UFC on ABC: Holloway vs. Kattar. She faced Karol Rosa on February 6, 2021, at UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov, as a replacement for Nicco Montaño.

Edwards was scheduled to face Zarah Fairn Dos Santos on August 28, 2021, at UFC on ESPN: Barboza vs. Chikadze.

Edwards faced Jessica-Rose Clark at UFC Fight Night: Costa vs. Vettori on October 23, 2021. Edwards faced Lucie Pudilová on April 15, 2023, at UFC on ESPN 44.

Edwards faced Tamires Vidal on October 19, 2024 at UFC Fight Night 245.

Countdown to the fight: Saturday 12th - two weeks

Weight Issues

At the weigh-ins for the Pudilová fight, Edwards weighed in at 136.5 pounds, half a pound over the bantamweight non-title fight limit.

At the weigh-ins for the Vidal fight, Edwards weighed in at 139 pounds, three pounds over the bantamweight non-title fight limit.

Edwards has now missed weight three times in her UFC career. She's also won each of those fights.

Recent Fights

Edwards and Chelsea Chandler missed weight in their previous fights, but both are staying at bantamweight for another bout.

Edwards will look to establish a three-fight win streak, which began with a submission win over Tamires Vidal and continued with a TKO to Chelsea Chandler.

Each of her first nine fights with the company had gone to a decision. Not here, however.

Edwards was able to blitz Chandler with a big combination along the fence, and Chelsea crumbled in an instant. It's certainly more of a fluke result as opposed to a sign of things to come, but the end result either way was Edwards' first knockout win in almost five years.

Performance Bonus

  • Performance of the Night (One time) vs. Priscila Cachoeira

Edwards did a nice job of bullying Vidal and controlling the fight wherever it took place, but it's fair to wonder how long the company will allow this to go on.
