Anthony Giraldo: A Bruin Legend

Anthony Giraldo, from the North Bergen Class of 2014, set a high standard for future Bruins. This lower-weight wrestler achieved a remarkable 4-for-4 record at the Bergen County tournament and secured two gold medals in Atlantic City. These were groundbreaking achievements for a North Bergen wrestler, foreshadowing a successful career at Rutgers.

Giraldo finished his high school career with an impressive 160-10 record, winning his last 81 bouts and all 44 as a senior.

North Bergen High School Athletics

The North Bergen Bruins compete in the Hudson County Interscholastic League, under the supervision of the NJSIAA. The school's athletic facilities include Bruins Stadium, used by the track, tennis, football, and soccer teams, located in James J. Braddock Park.

With 1,852 students in grades 10-12, the school was classified by the NJSIAA for the 2019-20 school year as Group IV for most athletic competition purposes, which included schools with an enrollment of 1,060 to 5,049 students in that grade range. The school was classified by the NJSIAA as Group V North for football for 2024-2026, which included schools with 1,317 to 5,409 students.

The football team competes in the Liberty Red division of the North Jersey Super Football Conference, which includes 112 schools competing in 20 divisions, making it the nation's biggest football-only high school sports league.
