A Community-Focused Gym
Thanat Tanchon (also known as Kru Chon) and Nate Bennett, the owners of martial arts facility The Little Giant Muay Thai, decided to focus on one very important aspect of their business when first opening: community. “Providing that community aspect and making people wanna be here [makes customers] look past the small space that we have, which is great.

It’s this very commitment that inspired reviewer Samantha N. to write a 5-star review. The Little Giant was actually the third gym she visited when searching for a place where her three children could continue their Muay Thai training. “When you come through, they make sure to greet every single person, acknowledge the fact that they’re there, and it shows a lot of respect,” Samantha said.
Nate and Kru Chon employ small strategies to make sure every customer feels special, focusing on one-on-one communication. Subtle things like knowing everyone’s first and last name and going above and beyond typical small talk to facilitate a more personal rapport can go a long way in building a connection.
While Nate is grateful for the lack of critical reviews, he knows that the longer they’re in business, the more likely a customer will have a complaint or critical feedback. That being said, he understands the importance of having a platform for customers to voice their concerns as well as their support. “We’re trying to keep these five stars forever, but we can’t make everybody happy,” he said. “We can only do our best.
Key Strategies for Business Growth:
- Always be ready for a potential new customer to walk into your space.
- Know what makes your business unique, and make sure new customers can pick up on your key differentiators quickly.
- Don’t be afraid to make the “jump” and take risks in order to grow your business. Sometimes growth means taking risks and being brave enough to face the discomfort of the unknown.
- Critical reviews aren’t always negative.
Expert Instruction and Authentic Training
This gym truly delivers an authentic Muay Thai experience. Kru Chon, Kru Eddie, and Kru Roger are all highly accomplished native Thai fighters with years of experience, both in the ring and as instructors. Their focus on technique and discipline has helped me grow stronger and more confident with each session.

Lead instructor Chon was my coach back in Thailand when I was fighting and he coached and trained me for many wins! He is a former stadium fighter himself, so the level of instruction is unbeatable. Chon is very traditional in his approach and no matter what level of boxing you are he gives everyone the same amount of teaching. that have this level of muay thai!
The instructors are real, authentic, and they're truly dedicated to helping you improve and get better. This is a friendly and welcoming place with instructors who have a deep knowledge of Muay Thai.
Every instructor/kru is great Niko, Nate, Kru Chon, Kru Addy, Kru Roger, Ayan. Kru Chon and the rest of the staff are incredibly welcoming. They truly made the transition from my previous gym smooth.
There is no other teacher I've met who is more dedicated, accommodating, innovative, and encouraging than he is. The staff is great as well. Nate, in particular, is a great communicator and has been so helpful every time I had to set up appointments. In addition, each instructor that I've had the privilege of learning from, be it through a private or group class, has helped me tremendously. Thanks to Kru Chon's knowledge and guidance, I have progressed enormously in my Muay Thai journey. It is always the most humbling experience to train at the Little Giant and I could not be more grateful that I stumbled upon this gym all those years ago. Littlegiant Muay Thai is my second home, and Kru Chon has beautiful technique. Very professional and quality instruction. Littlegiant has extremely friendly and welcoming instructors. As someone who was new to Muay Thai, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was treated with respect and understanding from the minute I stepped into the gym to sign up.

Positive and Growth-Based Environment
I’ve trained all across the east coast, and very few gyms maintain the positive growth-based environment that I see in this gym while keeping a high-training quality. You are either too good or not good enough to train with the pros in most places, and injuries are abundant - not at LittleGiant however. Everyone is welcome regardless of skill level, everyone trains together whether it be a novice or pro fighter, the staff and instructors do their best to keep you safe and motivated, and most importantly everyone will make an effort to say hi, remember your name, and welcome you back eagerly.
Nate, who is an active MMA fighter with several titles under his belt, understands that people who are not familiar with martial arts can have the idea that it’s violent and aggressive. However, he wants to change that perception of the sport to a more positive impression focused on discipline and mutual respect between opponents. “There’s a misconception for a lot of martial arts gyms where it’s just like we’re just trying to beat everybody up. But we really try and preach good, healthy habits [like] being disciplined and a decent person. That’s how we run our school,” he said.
Transformative Fitness Journey
Since joining Little Giant Muay Thai a few months ago, I’ve embraced a new lifestyle of fitness and camaraderie. I was never an athlete; I always focused on my career since I was a teenager. I've experienced a remarkable transformation, with my brain rewiring as I learn new coordination and fitness techniques I never knew before. It’s been an amazing journey.
Class members initially doubted that I would last long in this gym. I’m really happy with my decision to join and find myself impressing my own expectations with each class-not something this +50-year-old ever anticipated saying! In terms of health stats, since joining LGMT, I’ve seen a significant decrease in visceral and body fat, along with an increase in muscle mass. I look forward to each class for many reasons. I'm incredibly focused throughout the workday, and my diet and sleep have naturally improved to peak levels. I’m probably the last person you’d expect to see practicing Muay Thai; I had no idea what I was getting into but knew it would challenge me and I wanted to try it. I can’t imagine my life without this now.

Every day is a win here from learning smooth techniques, learning Thai, and learning names of the amazing people you train with. Only loss is if you cheat yourself...DONT DO THAT!!! Great, technical classes as well as fight team training run by former Lumpinee champion Mahachon, and a couple other Thai trainers. I LOVE this gym.
