The Mather, a Life Plan Community for those 62 and better, stands ready to begin welcoming residents in early 2024. Located on Westpark Drive near Tysons Galleria, The Mather offers luxury of a different kind, redefining senior living by prioritizing wellness, sustainability, and meaningful connection to nature in a vibrant, urban setting.
A Vision for Aging Well
Raj Radke, vice president and general manager of The Mather, explains, “Our mission of creating Ways to Age Well extends to all team members.” That stems from the unique values of its parent organization - inclusive, resilient, bold, and impactful - and its vision to change the way society views aging.
As a nonprofit, Mather set out to create a forward-thinking environment that would appeal to a new generation of active older adults by integrating biophilic and sustainable design throughout the site.
The Community and Its Features
The two towers-which will reach 19 and 27 stories-will offer medical care and services with independent living, assisted living, and memory support units and skilled nursing beds. The plan calls for 300 age restricted units and 78 assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing beds, along with 13,286 square feet of retail and a community facility.
Apartment homes ranging in size up to 3,300 square feet are equipped with innovative smart-home technology; amenity-rich community spaces include a fitness center featuring an exercise studio and large indoor pool; multiple restaurants, a bar, outdoor event terraces with catering opportunities; a spa offering full services - including a Himalayan salt wall; and three acres of green space. The Mather also will offer 2,750-square-foot community facility for public use by people ages 50-plus. While the nonprofit build, equip and operate this community space, they will enter into an agreement with the county to collaboratively develop programming and activities.

Embracing Nature and Wellness
The landscape was a central part of this vision-blending public and private outdoor spaces with nearly three acres of green space, including rooftop gardens, walking paths, a dog park, sports courts, and access to a nearby public park. The goal was to create a wellness-focused refuge within a bustling mixed-use neighborhood, offering opportunities for outdoor recreation, social engagement, and daily interaction with nature.
Walkability and green space are important to the growing neighborhood that is Tysons.
Location and Accessibility
The high-rises will join CityLine’s more than 2.6 million-square foot Arbor Row development near the McLean Metro Station. There are currently no continuing care facilities in Tysons, according to Mather Lifeways in its development application.
