A 58-second video that went viral last week captured the moment Brown, a trained wrestler and mixed martial arts fighter, landed multiple punches and put Jones in a chokehold. Walker Brown's Perspective

Walker Brown, the one who put the beatdown on Jones, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover the expenses spent in lawyering up against Spencer Jones. The MMA fighter wants to hire an attorney and reveal his side of the story. According to Brown attorney Steve Stice, the viral video does not show the “original assault and battery suffered by Mr. Walker at the hands of Mr. Jones and his friend” and cites Brown’s bloodied nose before the fight broke out.

Here is Walker Brown’s full statement:

“I have not commented because there is an on-going investigation. I have been advised to get an attorney. I am also facing a surgery from an injury I received while defending myself and will be looking at some unplanned medical bills and time off of work recovering from the surgery. I am a full-time student who works two jobs”.

“I feel awkward doing this because I want to work and pay my own bills, but I am realizing that may be difficult for a little bit. “I will say that yes, there was something that occurred prior to the start of the video as my nose doesn’t bleed for no reason."

"After I hire an attorney, I will make a statement so you will know my side of the story. Thank you again for all of the support.”

Brown tore his bicep, according to the page, which has raised $AUD63,500.

Legal and Medical Aftermath

Jones underwent a four-hour procedure to rebuild his left orbital socket following the fracas, according to The Athletic. Glass claimed earlier this week his client was the “victim of this vicious assault”.“Dr. (Perry) Brooks came out of that surgery saying he’s extraordinarily lucky at this point, that he’s lucky he didn’t lose the eye altogether,” Glass told a student newspaper.

Woodrow Glass, a lawyer representing Jones, said his client was “trying to de-escalate the situation” and that the blood on Brown’s face wasn’t caused by Jones. Glass said Jones went to the bathroom to check on his friend, when he ended up in the middle of an argument. “He was trying to de-escalate that situation,” Glass added. “But unfortunately, it wasn’t de-escalated despite his best efforts, and he became the victim of this vicious assault you’ve seen.”
