Bare Knuckle Fighting Comes to Albuquerque

Albuquerque, New Mexico, has become a notable destination for bare-knuckle fighting, attracting both seasoned fighters and enthusiastic fans. Several organizations have hosted events in the city, showcasing the raw intensity and skill of this combat sport.

BYB Extreme, known as "the biggest and baddest bare knuckle company on the planet," made its New Mexico debut with a night of hard-hitting action on January 11 at Revel ABQ in Albuquerque. The historic card was headlined by the long-awaited rematch between two of the most accomplished bare knuckle fighters on the planet, when BYB two-division champion, South Africa’s LT “Smash” Nelson, defended his BYB Super Middleweight Police Gazette Diamond Belt against Birmingham, England’s James “The Truth”Connelly.

In the co-main event, Argentina’s Walter Saravia faced USA’s Javon Wright for the vacant BYB Welterweight title.

  • Two of bare knuckle’s hardest-hitting former world champions were set to collide when former Police Gazette Diamond Belt holder Jarome “The Hatchet” Hatch (Orem, UT) welcomed Swansea, Wales’ former 2x BKB world champion “Lionheart” Daniel Lerwell.
  • Albuquerque’s Cole Griego made his bare knuckle debut against Mexico’s “El Diamante” Carlos Guerra; while Duke City heavyweight Cody East looked to remain undefeated when he went against another undefeated heavyweight, Dylan Rush.
  • 21-6 Cuban professional boxer Yunieski “The Monster” Gonzalez made his bare knuckle debut against Chicago’s Martez “The Maniac” McGregor

BYB 35 Albuquerque Brawl took place January 11 at Revel ABQ at 4720 Alexander Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107. Tickets were available at bybtickets.com.
