Bellarmine University's wrestling team is gearing up for a challenging and exciting season. The schedule includes a mix of home and away events, providing ample opportunities for the Knights to test their mettle against strong competition.
According to Coach Ned Shuck, the team is eager to face the challenges ahead. He said, "I'm really excited to continue to level up our schedule again this year. We have some exciting non-conference events at home and away this year. There will be no shortages of challenges for our guys. They love that, and I love that! Can't wait to get all the fans out for our 6 home duals and our intrasquad match this year."
Key Matchups and Events
Bellarmine will then hit the road for their first dual, traveling to Iowa City, IA for a bout with the Iowa Hawkeyes on November 6. Bellarmine opens 2026 with three straight tournaments, beginning the year with the Southern Scuffle and Soldier Salute January 3-4. The next week, BU will close out its tournament schedule with a trip to the David H. Jacobs Invitational.
The Knights open Southern Conference play on January 18 as they host Presbyterian College in a tri-dual with Sacred Heart University. Bellarmine will then come home for two SoCon duals, hosting Campbell on February 6 and Gardner-Webb on February 8.
One of the notable early season matchups was against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa and Bellarmine are meeting for the second time in series history, and for the first time at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa leads the series, 1-0. The teams first met a season ago in 2024. Iowa won that meeting 39-0 in Louisville. Tom Brands leads Iowa, and Bellarmine is coached by former Hawkeye Ned Shuck.
