Hawaii Wrestling Academy (HWA) offers a range of wrestling programs designed to cater to athletes of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced competitors. Here's a detailed look at the programs and opportunities available:
Membership Options

Novice Team - $90 for 30 days
This program is designed for athletes who are new to wrestling and still developing their fundamental skills. It is suitable for children aged 5 and older who are mature enough to listen to coaches and follow instructions, which is critical for the safety of all athletes. Parents are required to stay and observe practice. Athletes who do not listen to the coach’s instructions will sit with their parents.
Competition Team - $110 for 30 days
For experienced wrestlers ready to compete, this team requires participants to know a wrestling stance, penetration step, and sprawl. Athletes must be able to follow instructions and work independently. Wrestlers will be coached by HWA coaches at local tournaments, typically held on Saturdays or Sundays. In addition to practices.

Objectives:
- Further develop and expand wrestling skills and athleticism.
- Prepare mentally and physically for competition.
- Attends and competes in local tournaments.
Travel Team - $125 for 30 days
This program is tailored for experienced wrestlers planning to compete in mainland competitions with HWA. Wrestlers 13 years and younger must travel with a parent. HWA coaches will attend and support wrestlers at local tournaments. In addition to preparation, HWA coaches will travel with wrestlers to mainland competitions to guide them through the journey.
Objectives:
- Prepare wrestlers for college.
- Additional coaching in mindset and nutrition.
- Prepare mentally and physically for the next level of competition.
- Attends and competes in local tournaments.
How To Shoot: Basic Wrestling and BJJ Moves and Technique Tutorials For Beginners
Wrestling Strength - $40 for 30 days
This program is designed for experienced wrestlers who want to supplement their training, as well as for family members who want to work out on the side during practice.
Private Lessons - $60 for 1 hr
Private lessons are available for experienced wrestlers who want 1-on-1 coaching customized for their specific needs. The cost is $60 for each athlete for 1 hour, for 2-4 athletes. One parent should stay for the duration of the lesson.

Level 1: Introduction + Fundamentals

Level 2: Development
Days: Mon & Wed
Time: 5:00pm - 6:30pm
Objectives:
- Develop basic offense, defense, and setups
- Establish good habits through Muscle memory of fundamental Wrestling skills
*Wrestlers in this class should already know a basic stance, penetration Step, and be able to focus and work independently.
Level 3: Refinement
Days: Tues & Thurs
Time: 6:30 pm - 8pm
Objectives:
- Develop the individual's system of skills and techniques, putting it all together
- Smooth Transitions between positions
- High intensity drilling with partner reactions
*Wrestlers that are working towards a State or national championship, and plan to travel with us will be the focus in this class. These athletes should attend both Level 2 and Level 3 practices. Level 2 practices will reinforce fundamental wrestling positions through muscle memory and helping others.
Travel Team Practice
Days: Mon & Wed
Time: 6:30pm - 8pm
Objectives:
- Customized skills and situations specific to athletes planning to travel with HWA
*Wrestlers that plan to travel with us will be the focus in this class. These athletes should attend both Level 3 and Travel Team practices.
Girls Night Practice
Day: Wed
Time: 6:30pm - 8pm
Objectives:
- Bringing together HWA girls into one room to create a space for girls, foster camaraderie and role models
- Provide a variety of partners
- Teach freestyle in a folkstyle world
- Prepare for competition
- Cover positions and situations unique to girls wrestling
*Girl Wrestlers with some experience will be the focus in this class. These athletes should continue to attend both Level 2 and Level 3 practices.
