The Origins of Iron Fist

The origins of the Iron Fist can be traced back to the mystical city of K'un-Lun. This city only appears on Earth every decade. Danny Rand's father, Wendell Rand, discovered K'un-Lun as a boy, where he saved the life of the city's ruler, Lord Tuan, and was adopted as Tuan's son. However, Wendell chose to leave and became a wealthy entrepreneur. He later organized an expedition to find K'un-Lun again, which led to tragic events that forever changed Danny Rand's life.

Fueled by a desire for revenge, nine-year-old Danny Rand spent a decade training in martial arts in the heavenly city of K'un-Lun. After his family is killed, Danny Rand is taken in by the people of K'un-Lun, specifically the place's leader: Yu-Ti, the August Personage of Jade.

The August Personage of Jade suggested he attempt to become the Iron Fist, a challenge that lead to a near-fatal battle with Shou-Lao, an undying dragon. Upon besting the dragon and gaining his mark upon the chest, Danny entered a chamber where Shou-Lao's heart was kept. Not long after, Rand proved himself to the August Personage of Jade again against the Many and the One, which turned out to be a robot.

But, he needed to make a choice: stay in the paradise of K'un-Lun as an immortal, or seek his revenge as a mortal on Earth. Instead of staying and embracing immortality, he returned to Earth ten years later to avenge his dead parents. The entire time that Danny trains in K'un-Lun, he is focused on getting revenge on Harold Meachum, his father's ex-business partner.

Danny's father Wendell spent time in K'un-Lun as a boy, after meeting then-Iron Fist Orson Randall in a remote village. Wendell ran away from the final challenge and returned to Earth where he married his wife Heather and had Danny.

Iron Fist in Combat

The idle stance for Iron Fist involves two hands being at face level as a result of the Peek-a-Boo style and the left leg being the lead leg as the user slowly bobs forward and backward. Iron Fist is an agile brawler that has various ways to enhance his survivability and excellent mobility. He excels at swiftly taking down low health targets and gaining bonus health through many of his abilities.

His core ability is DRAGON'S DEFENSE - which converts all sources of damage taken into bonus health during a short blocking stance. Each hit with his normal primary attack, JEET KUNE DO, will reduce the cooldown of his block to allow for better cycling and utility.

Here are some key combat strategies:

  • Manage Ability Cooldowns: Several of your ability cooldowns are long to make up for your high damage output.
  • Target Priority: A disorganized backline will struggle to combat you if they can't work together.
  • Stalling Objectives: Iron Fist is one of the best heroes when it comes to stalling objectives.
