What to Expect in MMA Classes for Kids and Teens

In this class, your child will have the opportunity to learn a mix of disciplines, including Boxing, Karate, Judo, Wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques. It’s a dynamic blend that exposes them to a diverse range of martial arts. Each session is designed to offer something new and engaging. Your child will experience a variety of activities, such as pad work, punching bags, grappling, and light and assisted sparring. Through these dynamic training methods, they will not only build their skills but also cultivate self-confidence and gain valuable insights into different martial arts.

Key Components of Youth MMA Programs:

  • Boxing: Boxing is a fun way to get a cardiovascular workout all while learning one of our nations oldest sports.
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program includes a belt and stripe promotion program and our young athletes regularly compete in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling tournaments.

Safety and Guidance

Yes, MMA training for kids and teens is conducted in a safe and controlled environment under the guidance of experienced instructors. Our instructors will provide guidance and instruction tailored to each child's individual needs, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all. Don’t let your child train with just any youth boxing coach, sign them up for Elite MMA’s youth boxing program which is taught by one of our caring instructors. Our head youth coach has studied developmental psychology and neural psychophysiology and is a school teacher. Do not expose your children to head trauma with uneducated martial arts and boxing instructors.

Age Groups and Class Structure

The age requirements for Kids & Teens MMA may vary depending on the academy or program. It is typically open to children and teenagers between certain age ranges, such as 5-12 or 13-17 years old. All youth are in classes together; however, we generally split classes into sections of the following age groups:

  • 5-8 year olds
  • 9-12 year olds
  • 13-16 year olds

Our oldest teens usually lead warmup and other exercises, enhancing their leadership skills.

The United States Fight League is a non-profit athletic organization that fosters and supports developmental MMA from Youth Pankration to the Elite Adult Amateur level. While some of our athletes develop into professional MMA athletes, far more become productive citizens. Fight League is a non-profit organization within a community of Martial Arts Coaches & Officials who have witnessed first-hand the value Martial Arts have had on youth in their community.

What to Bring to Class

Train coordination, speed, agility, strength, and other performance benefits while having fun in a range of specialized Youth Classes. We recommend athletic wear, a water bottle, and optional sweat towel. Some clubs recommend the UFC GYM Youth Uniform. Boxing and Kickboxing classes require hand wraps and gloves. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gi classes require a UFC GYM gi.
