What's Hot?

Jake Paul, known for his transition from social media to boxing, brings a massive following and a knack for creating intrigue and drama. He has attracted a new audience to combat sports, making boxing "cool" to a demographic that might not have been interested otherwise.

Mike Tyson, an icon in the boxing world, adds a layer of nostalgia and unpredictability to the fight. Although he is past his prime, the allure of seeing "Iron Mike" back in the ring is undeniable. This event will give him a nice paycheck.

No one has the slightest clue how this fight will play out. Will it actually be a good fight? Will Tyson be throwing bombs? Will he look old an slow? Will Paul pull his punches? Is this staged and nothing more than a glorified sparring session? No one truly knows and that is why people will tune in.

What's Not?

Many critics view the fight as a mockery of the sport, citing the age difference and Tyson's past medical issues. There are also concerns that a victory for Paul would be overhyped, given Tyson's age and condition.

The Undercard

The event features several compelling matchups in addition to the main event:

  • Co-Main Event: Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano (10 rounds for the Super Lightweight title)
  • WBC Welterweight Title: Mario Barrios vs. Abel Ramos (12 rounds)
  • WBO Super Middleweight Title: Shadasia Green vs. Melinda Watpool (10 rounds)
  • Other Bouts:
    • Lucas Bahdi vs. Armando Casamonica (10 rounds, 135 lbs)
    • Bruce Carrington Jr. vs. Dana Coolwell (Eight rounds, 126 lbs)
    • Neeraj Goyat vs. Whindersson Nunes (Four rounds, 160 lbs)
Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano
Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano

The co-main event is a highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, two years in the making. Katie Taylor will defend her Super Welterweight title against Amanda Serrano in a rematch two years in the making.

Taylor out-lasted Serrano in an epic main event on April 30, 2022, inside Madison Square Garden in New York City that left fight fans wanting more. After coming up short in her bid to win the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring female Light Welterweight titles against Chantelle Cameron in May 2023, she eventually won the rematch in Nov. 2023. Now, she will attempt to go two-for-two against Serrano, who is hungry and out for revenge.

Since losing to Taylor, Serrano has gone on to defend her WBC, WBO and IBO female Featherweight titles; while capturing the IBF and inaugural The Ring female Featherweight belts with a win over Sarah Mahfoud. She is currently on a five-fight win streak and was last seen destroying Stevie Morgan in less than two rounds this past summer (see it again here). Now that she has spent time inside the ring against Taylor, Serrano knows what to expect from the Irish slugger, but she also knows that her opponent has improved since their initial encounter. This should prove to be another exciting bout.

In another title fight that should produce fireworks, Mario Barrios will defend his WBC Welterweight title against Abel Ramos in a 12-round contest. Barrios is one of the most experienced and established boxers on this card with a professional record of 29-2 with 18 knockouts on his resume. As for Ramos - who fights in the Orthodox stance - he is coming off a big stoppage win over Juan Ramon Guzman, which snapped his two-fight losing streak. The 33-year-old American fighter has a huge opportunity to secure the biggest win of his career, though he will have to virtually be perfect this outing to accomplish that feat.

In a four-round, 160-pound bout, Neeraj Goyat battles YouTube sensation, Whindersson Nunes, in what is the former’s second professional bout. This is as big a mismatch if I ever saw one. Nunes barely got into the boxing game back in Jan. 2022 and has a record of 1-1-1 in exhibition fights against fellow “influencers” and a record of 0-1 as a professional. And while Goyat may not be well-known to most boxing fans, he does have many more fights under his belt with a record of 18-4 with eight knockouts. This one could end ugly.

In a 10-round 135-pound matchup, Lucas Bahdi - who is undefeated (17-0) - will tango with fellow undefeated fighter (14-0), Armando Casamonica. Kicking things off will be Bruce Carrington Jr. vs. Dana Coolwell, who will throw down in an eight-round, 126-pound bout.

Paul was originally set to face Tyson this past summer, but the fight was scrapped after “Iron Mike” suffered medical complications while on a flight. Green is coming off a win over Natasha Spence at the last Paul spectacle event earlier this year, bumping up her record to 14-1 (11 knockouts). As for Watpool, the 35-year-old Canadian boxer is undefeated (7-0) with two knockouts on her resume, and will be fighting outside of Canada for the first time in her career.

It’s safe to say many are waiting for Paul’s boxing train to get thrown completely off its tracks. The aforementioned loss to Fury didn’t exactly do that, but a knockout loss at the hands of Tyson could be the first and final nail in the coffin for “El Gallo,” who is adamant he will callout Canelo once more. That’s a fight he needs to quit chasing because Alvarez is one of those boxers who would unlikely entertain gimmick fights such as this one, especially if Paul loses in devastating fashion. Paul will be just fine if the money coming in from boxing ever runs dry. That said, if he does lose, then his transition into the mixed martial arts (MMA) world could be around the corner. And that will be another circus in and of itself.

How Jake Paul Keeps Winning Fights

Tale of the Tape

Here is a quick comparison of the two main fighters:

Fighter Record Notable Wins Notable Losses
Mike Tyson 50-6 (44 KOs) Trevor Berbick, James Smith, Tony Tucker, Michael Spinks, Frank Bruno Buster Douglas, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Danny Williams, Kevin McBride
Jake Paul 9-1 (6 KOs) Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley Tommy Fury

The 31-year age difference between Tyson and Paul is the largest age difference in professional boxing history.

In a press conference, Paul stated “A lot of people are doubting me. I go onto the Instagram comments and I see them all saying, ‘If Jake wins this fight, it’s rigged’ because of how incredible he looks. Age doesn’t matter. Age is just a number. He’s a killer, he’s a warrior, he’s been doing this his whole, entire life, so it’s second nature to him.

During the weigh-in the day prior to the match, Paul stepped on Tyson's toes; Tyson has been on record stating he has foot problems due to health issues including sciatica, and has an aversion to people stepping on them. Tyson slapped Paul across the face, afterwards telling the New York Post "I was in my socks and he had on shoes. He stepped on my toe because he is a fucking asshole. I wanted to think it happened by accident. But now I think it may have happened on purpose," adding "I was in a lot of pain.
