Fight Analysis and Highlights
UFC Fight Night vs. CJ Vergara (Win): It was by far the best performance we've seen to date from Chairez, and it came in a big spot in his native Mexico, in addition to earning him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. Vergara had all sorts of trouble getting out of the starting block, and Edgar to full advantage. He floored the gas pedal and eventually clipped Vergara with a combo that dropped him. He then jumped on top and eventually took the back of his opponent. Chairez's initial rear-naked choke attempt didn't work, but Vergara had no intention of sticking around and tapped to the ensuing face crank.

UFC 306 vs. Joshua Van (Loss): This was a tale of two fights, with Chairez dominating early on before starting to fade. He dominated the entirety of Round 1, landing a ton of leg kicks and keep Van off balance. The bout deteriorated into an all-out brawl in Round 2, and Chairez absorbed far too much damage, particularly to the body. He likely would have been finished had he not landed a miracle spinning blow that bought him some time. It allowed him to see the final bell, although a Round 3 takedown for Van ended any chance Edgar have of taking a decision.
