Beginners Guide to Finding a Muay Thai Gym!
Benefits of Training Muay Thai
Beyond competition, training in Muay Thai provides a whole host of extended benefits. Here are some reasons why you should consider training Muay Thai:
- Full Body Workout: Instead of running mindlessly on the treadmill, Muay Thai is contact and resistance training, plus serious cardio training. You are constantly hitting something: bags, focus mitts, Thai pads.
- Self-Defense: This not only prepares you for competition style fighting, but also boosts your confidence for real world self defense situations. We teach self-defense by using fist, feet, knee, and elbow as the weapons, which is called Muay Thai.
- Emotional Release: This type of training is an emotional release as well as developing the mind body and spirit.
- Fitness: Our motto “Fit to Fight / Fight for Fitness” means our goal is to get you fit by learning fighting techniques.
Training Systems and Techniques
Muay Thai training typically involves a combination of striking techniques, strength and conditioning, and sparring. Here's a breakdown of what you can expect:
- Striking Training: Our striking training utilizes pad work, bag training, partner drills, and more.
- Strength and Conditioning: Our strength and conditioning training includes weightlifting, plyometrics, calisthenics, and cardio.
Unlike other gyms with random instructions, we focus on a systematic approach for Muay Thai. This method was established at the fighting camp of Sor Sakpichit gym in Thailand and Sri Nakharinwirot University in Thailand.
