Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a self-defense martial art and combat sport that revolves around grappling, ground fighting, and submission holds. It is based on the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger opponent by using leverage and weight distribution. BJJ primarily focuses on taking the fight to the ground, gaining a dominant position, and employing various techniques to force submission through joint locks, choke holds, or compression locks.
The Art of Jiu-Jitsu
I love the art, culture and sense of community that BJJ brings. If you're considering joining a Jiu-Jitsu academy, come visit Tensei Jiu-Jitsu.
The Importance of a Good Instructor
I have always been impressed with the quality of his classes. I've been training under and alongside Fabio for the past 10 years. Fabio’s extensive knowledge of Jiu-Jitsu shows in every class. He brings a wealth of experience to the mats, making each session both challenging and enlightening. You are glad to have Fabio as an instructor. He is not only a highly skilled and experienced Jiu-Jitsu instructor, but also a great person.
He is a funny guy, and will make you feel welcome from the moment you set a step into the school, which will make it a lot easier for you to start. Fabio is extremely down-to-earth and approachable. He doesn't take himself too seriously, which creates a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere in every class. It's not just about learning techniques, it's also about having fun doing it.
Friendly atmosphere, expert BJJ practitioner, variety of skills, exceptional video tutorials for free. I have known Fabio since I first began my martial arts journey 13 years ago.

I’m a 3rd-degree Rigan Machado black belt under Professor Chris McCune and also a Judo brown belt. I’ve been coaching since my days at Straight Blast Gyms in Portland Oregon in 1993. My favorite part of teaching is seeing people learn and grow beyond any expectations that they had for themselves.
Training Environment
You can expect a welcoming and safe training environment, a sense of camaraderie among students, as well as mutual respect and support. You will be able to push your limits, learn from your mistakes, and evolve as a martial artist while feeling at ease.
Adapting to All Skill Levels
Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, he will tailor his instruction to suit all levels, ensuring everyone grows in their journey.
Variety of Skills
With around 30 years of experience, he knows a variety of techniques. In just a short amount of time, you will learn techniques for different situations in the sport. An important aspect that sets Fabio apart from other instructors is his wide variety of skills. He also knows Judo and has a good idea of how to behave in a self-defense situation. It is important for him, to not neglect the self-defense aspect. This means besides learning to how to fight on the ground, he can teach you how to get to the ground, and how to use punches, as well as defending against them, and, moreover, the mental part of self-defense.
I learned more for self-defense in six months under Fabio than in eight years of Karate. That is not just an opinion. I got into a fight with someone I know to be a very dangerous opponent, and I won without much effort, thanks to what I learned from Fabio. It also worked against trained fighters in MMA.

Exceptional Tutorials
You also do not have to worry if you miss a class. He puts a lot of effort into recording his instructions and sharing them with students. So, exceptional tutorials for you are included in the price.
Speaking of instructions: They are as long and detail as they have to be, but not longer than necessary, except for a funny joke now and then. Furthermore, he has a genuine interest in answering your questions.
