US TAI Karate

US TAI Karate is a unique and comprehensive martial arts system that blends traditional techniques with modern self-defense strategies. Developed by Grand Master David German, it emphasizes adaptability, allowing each student to personalize their training based on individual needs, body types, and learning styles. The curriculum draws from a wide range of martial arts disciplines, making practitioners versatile and well-rounded. Students learn striking, kicking, blocking, grappling, sparring, joint manipulation, and weapons training, with a strong focus on understanding martial arts concepts rather than just memorizing techniques.

The International Association of TAI Martial Arts (IATAI) was officially announced to help continue the legacy left by Mr. German and Mr. Kimmey. This association was started by M. Steven Fishman and Robert F. Beall, both students under the late Grandmaster David German, founder of the TAI Martial Arts system, and O'Sensei Virgil D. Kimmey; 10th Degree Black Belt and Former East Coast President of the TAI Martial Arts system. Alongside Senior Black Belt Robbie Sikes(10th Degree in the TAI Martial Arts), Sensei Fishman (8th Degree in the TAI Martial Arts), and Sensei Beall (5th Degree in the TAI Martial Arts) made this official announcement at the grand opening of North Augusta Martial Arts and Self Defense; in North Augusta, SC.

When asked why the decision was made to create the new association, Sensei Beall replied "after we lost O'Sensei Kimmey we knew something needed to be done to solidify the martial arts family we had in the region and help it to stay connected to the rest of the TAI schools across the United States. O'Sensei Kimmey was a strong driving force for the growth of martial arts in this area for over 50 years. With Mr. Kimmey gone, things just weren't the same. I began speaking to Mr. German about reorganization of the TAI association, and with his permission, myself and several other black belts began work on coming up with a plan to make that happen. Sadly, we were never able to officially put anything into place before Mr. German passed away. Shortly after Grandmaster German passed away, we began to hear about all of these different black belts laying claim to being the new head of the organization. As those claims became more abundant, I began to be concerned for the future of our system of martial arts. We had a family here, and something needed to be done to protect its members. It was this need that motivated Steven Fishman to suggest that we continue the proposed reorganization."

"With all these new 'Grandmasters' coming out and claiming to be the head of the organization" Steven Fishman continued "and with no clear successor being left by David German or Virgil Kimmey, we needed a way of protecting the local black belts. We didn't want to see someone coming in and trying to enforce some outrageous changes to what we have been doing for most of our lives. We all saw what happened to the American Kenpo System after the death of Ed Parker. This was shaping up to be the same type of thing. So we created this 'umbrella' to allow our members to continue to grow and thrive as they always have in the past. The only difference now is that we no longer have the watchful eye of Mr. German or Mr. Kimmey to look out for us. I guess now, we have to look out for ourselves."

"The most important thing for people to understand that this is something we are doing because we have a true love for the martial arts that we teach. It is not about money, the IATAI is a fully non-profit organization licensed in the state of Georgia. It is not about power, we have no changes or regulations that we are trying to push down to our members. This is about helping to continue the legacy left by Mr. German and Mr. Kimmey. They both left a mark on our lives, and in this area. So what better place to start this organization which is dedicated to their memory? We have almost 700 years of combined martial arts experience in this room tonight. The black belts are here for a reason, and one reason only; to show respect to our late instructors, and to make a commitment to continue to grow and strengthen out martial arts family" said Mr. Fishman.

David German started his martial arts as a child in California. Starting as a student of a "children's ju-jitsu" class, he would later move on to train and teach for Al Thomas and the Budo-Jujutsu style. From there, Mr. German was introduced to Ed Parker and Kenpo Karate. He would continue training in both of these styles, and actually open up one of Mr. Parker's first franchise schools. Mr. German would then branch out and create his own system of martial arts; TAI. It would be a creation that stemmed from his training with Mr. Parker and Mr. Thomas, as well as many other influences.

Virgil Kimmey, a World War II veteran, would start his training at a young age as well. However, it wasn't until after he returned from the war that he began his martial arts career. Mr. Kimmey would begin his training in Shorin Ryu Karate. From there he would continue his training in the styles of Moo Du Kwon Tae Kwon Do, Zen Shoto Kai Karate, and finally US TAI Karate. Mr. Kimmey would spend the rest of his life teaching martial arts; running his school in North Augusta up until his retirement in his late 70's. Together, these two men had a huge effect on the growth of martial arts in the communities of the Central Savannah River Area.

In front of a room full of students, parents, family members, and instructors; senior black belts Robbie Sikes, Steven Fishman, and Frank Beall handed out almost 30 separate certificates; acknowledging the ranks of the charter members of the new International Association of TAI Martial Arts. Many black belts expressed their appreciation for the new organization, and commented on how this was the first time they had seen each other in decades. Mr. Fishman and Mr.

Frontline Jiu-Jitsu: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a ground-based martial art and self-defense system that emphasizes technique, leverage, and strategy over brute strength. Originating in Brazil in the early 20th century, BJJ was developed by the Gracie family after learning traditional Japanese Judo and Jujutsu from Mitsuyo Maeda. The Gracies adapted these techniques to create a system that allows smaller individuals to control and submit larger opponents using joint locks, chokeholds, and positional dominance. BJJ focuses on grappling and ground fighting, with practitioners learning to escape bad positions, gain control, and apply submissions.

The academy blends traditional Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, and modern Mixed Martial Arts into a comprehensive training program suitable for all levels—from beginners to professional fighters.

Great place for mma/ jiu-jitsu/ muay thai/ cardio kickboxing and judo. The kids' classes are huge, and the main reason we joined Frontline Jiu-jitsu was because there were so many other kids for our 4 kids to train with. The trainers are top notch, and the classes are easy enough to follow for beginners with no prior training.

Seigler's Karate Center (SKC)

SKC is a great facility. My son is only 4 and he was so shy when we started 6 months ago. They have helped him build his confidence and work on being focused and disciplined. I have been a student at SKC for roughly a month now and the staff are so supportive and easy to talk to. I enjoy training here at SKC. Great staff great training and support.

Seigler’s has been great for both of my boys! It’s hard to find activities that they both love that they are on the same schedule for! My 5 year old son has been doing karate here for about 10 months now and it honestly has been life changing for him. He was diagnosed with ADHD a year ago. Focus and Discipline were some of the major things I was searching for help with when I signed him up for karate. He has grown so much in both of those areas along with being a very well mannered kid. Although my son would tell you that his favorites at SKC are Mr.

Awesome place that’s welcomes you like Family!!! My son is reluctant to do organized activities. The Instructor is so good with him! He is becoming more and more engaged! This is our second child going through the program. We have enjoyed it with our oldest. Enjoyed the structure, confidence and discipline that is taught as the kids go through. SKC has brought nothing but joy and healthy discipline in my son’s life. So far so good! Everyone here know you by name.

Both of my kids are loving it! They are super friendly and communicative about everything. Our two boys love coming here and training with the instructors. We love coming here for my sons karate career! I love SKC because I learn a lot about karate and how to be a good person. The facility is absolutely great! My daughter is a beginner and has really become passionate about this new endeavor. Ellee has a great time. My son really enjoys the class. The staff is very professional and very nice. The team does a phenomenal job with the kids and as the grandmother, I especially enjoy the tests.

Good place amazing coach Mr. Our kiddo is enjoying it more than we thought she would. The staff have all been polite and enthusiastic about what they are doing. I love how patient they are with the children. I absolutely love SKC! The instructors are there to promote self-discipline, help kids build on their confidence, strength and flexibility. Instructors work together with the parents to make sure that each child is on track and understands the value of hard work, honor and respect. My niece and daughter are going and I must say the staff and instructors are excellent!!! I felt good on the preview day and decided to let them come.

My son loves going to Siegler's SKC. You can tell everyone there really cares about him doing well. The group classes keep him motivated, and the moments of one-on-one training really boost his confidence. SKC is a positive environment filled with caring people. Everyone will ensure you and your child are set up for success along this journey. I love SKC and what they bring to my children. They enjoy the instructors and their peers that they’ve met their! SKC has been nothing but amazing to my kids and family! From the moment you make that first contact you have nothing but sweet conversations! My 7yr started back in September and it has been so fun to watch him train and work hard. My 4yr also recently started after watching his brother have such an amazing time each week and loves to train with his brother!

My boys are shy, standoffish, introverts and SKC is opening them up. We have just started with SKC but I can see improvements already. My sons first week he went to the Parents Night Out event that they had. He enjoyed himself and was able to have fun with his instructors. Great facility with phenomenal instructors and staff. I’m in the adult kickboxing program and Mrs. Waters is my instructor. I’ve been doing martial arts for a lot of years and she is by far the most skilled instructor I’ve ever had. Our daughter has been attending classes and camps for over 7 months. The instructors are amazing! They encourage, motivate and provide life lessons that are making a difference in my daughter’s life! They are genuinely concerned and interested in how my daughter and our family is doing and make a point to check in with us.

SKC has been a huge part of our lives and our kids have grown and thrived in their environment! If your child needs focus or confidence it’s a no brainer! Since coming to SKC, my son has improved dramatically. His behavior, respect towards other and discipline has greatly improved and his attitude towards learning has improved. What an amazing experience is to have my son Titus growing in so many areas of his life with the help of Seigler’s Karate team. This a nice and organized place. Our son has recently started classes at SKC. We have been delighted with the signing up process and have been warmly welcomed into this community. Our son has thrived each session in learning new skills and positively accepted instruction. We have noticed more respect and focus within our home. He was beaming with confidence at his last class even if he messed up. He was eager to try again with a smile on his face. We are eager to see what he will accomplish in the weeks ahead.

After only 3 weeks my son has learned so much. Not just in class but also in how he behaves at home and school. He’s learning discipline not just on the mat but off as well! We look forward to coming to class each day and we cannot wait to see how far he comes and how much he grows! Everyone here is super helpful! My son has had an amazing time since he has joined. Mr. Daniel is great and greets us everytime he sees us. My daughter is so shy & being in karate only for one month she’s come so far in respect and routines at home! They also do a great job with keeping us parents entertained!! Finally found something my son looks forward to going to. He has a great time, it builds up his confidence and helps parents reinforce good behavior.

Every time we come to class both Cj and I are greeted. It’s not a club like i thought. It turns out SKC is family now. I’ve got three kids in the class and they are loving it! The are learning respect and discipline and become more confident with each lesson. Excellent program! My three year old is engaged throughout the entire class and is excited to go back the next time. The discipline that the require the students to have is unmatched. My son has only been going for 2 weeks and I have already seen a difference in his focus at school. He is eager to learn more and earn more stripes. Everyone is so nice as soon as you walk in, they know us by name, and just make us feel welcome. Mary Kate loves being a part of the SKC family! We have noticed a change in her confidence as well as her focus.

SKC has been such a great mentorship and discipline for my daughter. My son recently joined the SKC center family! He has enjoyed everything since day one . The administrative staff is so polite and welcoming! His instructors shows attention to every student and finds creative ways to teach the students the fundamentals. This place is awesome! The initial focus class really sparked my children’s interest. Now that my children are actively participating in SKC they enjoy it very much! They look forward to practice days and SKC events. Also, the senseis and coaches at SKC are amazing! They have a special way to interact and teach kids of all ages! The whole team at SKC has been incredible to work with for the past year, and we’ve seen such incredible growth in our daughter’s confidence, discipline, focus, and respect since she started coming to SKC. She genuinely looks forward to her classes, and loves to tell everyone she knows just how great it is!

Great place for students of all levels! My son was brand new to karate and the instructors and staff really put in a great effort to make sure he (and my whole family) felt comfortable and prepared for each class. This place is amazing, from the first day we were impressed on the how each instructor interacts amazing with the kids. Javon loves coming here, and we see how much he has grown. Seigler's Karate Center is the BEST place to send your kids! A wonderful blend of Karate, leadership training and character building. Instructors know each child by name and are truly dedicated to their craft and the success of every child. Everything is very well organized and support staff is very responsive. They're very informative, give clear descriptions of what the class consist of with structure. They have payment plans that are reasonable if you can't afford to pay it all at once. If you are a single mother that want to get your kid(s) focused, disciplined and full of confidence...than Seiglers Karate is the place to be.

My son has been attending SKC for almost 2 yrs. He absolutely looks forward to his classes every week and loves the parties they have. He's started to set goals for himself over the year and it's a proud and exciting moment for both him and I to see him achieve them! The instructors are fantastic at what they do and seem to make an effort to focus on making your kid better even in a full class of students! I truly could not imagine a better center than SKC. Every day, the staff is so organized, kind, and intentional. The staff remembers your child’s name and provides so many opportunities to make each member feel seen, recognized, and valued. This place provides everything I wanted for my 8 year old son who has recently enrolled. This is the best group of instructors I’ve have ever seen! My daughter is so much better since starting this class. My son, Sebastien, really enjoys learning with the other children. As his mother I love how they keep his attention and focus on the class it’s helped him a lot with focusing in preschool and at home. My son has been begging to take karate for two years. He was diagnosed with ADD, hyperactive type with sensory issue components. This summer I decided to try the intro 6 week class. We had our first class and the staff was wonderful. My son faithfully practiced his moves everyday in preparation for his white belt test. I LOVE the checklist they gave my son to do everyday, things non-karate related but character building. It’s stuff I have him do anyway, but he’s so much more motivated now that it’s “for karate.” After one week, I can already tell his confidence is growing. He was so excited to receive his white belt, and that small success is motivating him to continue to try harder. Accountability and an awesome workout! I had the knowledge of how to loose weight and get fit, but like so many of us, I needed that push to get me started! Having a scheduled class time and training with athletes at the top of their game has motivated me to crush my goals. Love this place. My son has benefitted tremendously from their teachings. Best place to be a kid and even get to learn respect, self control, and discipline. Awesome place with great people. I feel happy just being there and seeing what they teach my son. We feel like it is a family.

Great place. Just started but the journey has been AMAZING! Could see a difference in son's FOCUS and SELF-AWARENESS after the consult session! Received his Gi and starter packet today and he's excited about his next session! Thanks for developing such a comprehensive program!
