The Viltrumites are a race of warriors and planetary conquerors from the planet Viltrum. After their emperor, Argall, was killed by Thaedus, the Viltrumites engaged in a civil war by killing off the weak on their planet. The population was made into an unbeatable race, led by Thragg. The Viltrumites established the Viltrum Empire and turned their attention to conquering planets. Thaedus founded the Coalition of Planets to combat their tyrannical ways. The Viltrumite population would be cut down enormously by The Scourge Virus, ultimately leaving fewer than 50 of them.
Viltrumites are a humanoid species, externally identical to Humans, except for the fact that they're far stronger, faster, and more durable than regular Humans. Their DNA can take over any other species' DNA.
Mark Grayson, better known as Invincible, is a half-human half-Viltrumite superhero and the son of Viltrumite soldier Nolan Grayson. Mark was born to a Viltrumite father and Human mother which resulted in him being unable to unlock his powers until he turned 18, Mark would be taught the values of compassion and love by his mother and the discipline and skill needed to be a hero by his father who would later attempt to betray him in order to conquer earth for Viltrum but would fail and end up leaving the planet.

Viltrumite Physiology and Abilities
While Viltrumites are biologically indistinguishable from Humans their bodies are made of "Smart Atoms", atoms with variable properties which can be arranged to produce several useful properties.

- Superhuman Strength: A Viltrumite's strength is far greater than that of Humans. Every Viltrumite possesses vast amounts of strength, enough to lift massive objects and rip apart Humans and tanks with ease.
- Flight: Viltrumites can levitate themselves in the air and propel themselves in any direction they desire, able to alter their trajectory mid-flight, letting them maneuver seamlessly through various environments. Viltrumites are gifted with the power of flight and can go far beyond light speed.
- Invulnerability: Viltrumite bodies are incredibly resilient, allowing them to withstand a wide range of attacks without sustaining any significant harm. They are unfazed by virtually any environment, or lack thereof. Each Viltrumite also has invulnerability enough to survive nuclear bombs and temperatures from absolute zero to extreme heat comparable to a star.
- Enhanced Healing Factor: Viltrumite bodies can recover from injuries in a day if not mere minutes. They can restore broken bones, torn muscles, damaged organs, even regrow lost anatomy with no lingering signs.
- Decelerated Aging: The older Viltrumites become, the slower they age. This allows them to have an incredibly long lifespan, able to live for thousands of years. As a result, they retain their health, vitality, conditioning, performance, and youthful appearance for much longer. Viltrumites can live for more than thousands of years.
- Dominant Genetics: A Viltrumite's genes are extremely adaptive and powerful. So potent, they can reproduce with almost any other race and their genetics will almost completely overshadow the inherit genetics of the non-Viltrumite mate, making said offspring almost purely Viltrumite themselves. Likewise, the more naturally compatible the genetics are to the mate's race, the sooner and more likely the offspring will inherit all the standard Viltrumite abilities.
Viltrumites are known for their incredible strength and resilience.
Known Viltrumites
- Nolan Grayson: Great-Grandson of Argall, Nolan is the husband of Debbie Grayson, father to Mark and Oliver Grayson, as well as grandfather to Terra Grayson and Markus Murphy.
- Thragg: One of the strongest Viltrumites in the galaxy, Thragg was bred to be a warrior, having fought in the long and bloody conflict, that was the Viltrumite Civil War. He was the Viltrumite leader before being overthrown in favor of Nolan Grayson, only to come back sometime later and attempt to destroy the old Viltrumite Empire with his own army of Viltrumite-Thraxan hybrids.
- Conquest: An old, yet extremely powerful Viltrumite, who lost his right forearm and hand to a Rognarr, as well as permanently scarred and blinded in his right eye.
- Anissa: A member of the Viltrumite Empire, Anissa was born on Viltrum, much like her other comrades. She has had rather rough dealings in the past with Mark, including not only raping him, but producing a child from it, named Markus Murphy. She later made amends with him, however when Samantha learned of that she did to him, she became bitter towards her.
- Oliver Grayson: The second child of Omni-Man and his second wife, the Thraxan Andressa. Oliver possesses the physical appearance of a human, but with purple skin as an infant. He later had the color of actual human skin as he got older, as well as obtaining his father's powers. He was once known as Kid Omni-Man or Young Omni-Man, but later became a member of the Coalition of Planets.
- Terra Grayson: Daughter of Mark Grayson and Samantha Wilkins, Terra was born following an incident where her mother lost her leg during a fight with Robot.
- Markus Murphy: The son of the Viltrumite Anissa and the hybrid Mark Grayson, Markus was the product of rape, following Anissa overpowering Mark on one occasion.
Weaknesses of the Viltrumites
Even though Viltrumites rank among the universe's mightiest, they are not entirely invincible.
- Vulnerable Internal Organs: Robot, a technopathic superhero, shows that he can kill Viltrumites by shoving a bomb into their throat, showing that only the external parts of the Viltrumite body are near-invulnerable.
- Viltrumite-made Weapons: Viltrumites have created several melee weapons from an unknown extremely durable alloy that can puncture through their body easily. In the past, during the Viltrum great purge, a female VIltrumite easily killed a Viltrumite male by piercing him through the head with a Viltrumite-made spear.
- Vulnerable Ears: All Viltrumites possess delicately balanced, sensitive inner ears to accommodate their powers of flight. Thus, certain sounds and frequencies can actually destabilize a Viltrumites equilibrium, causing them to experience severe pain and crippling them by directly attacking their inner ear. When a Viltrumite's equilibrium in their ears is disturbed, mainly by frequency, it can cause extreme pain and may even possibly kill them.
- Extreme Heat: Intense heat can be especially damaging to the healing factor of a Viltrumite, as shown in Mark's final battle with Thragg in the sun. The Smart Atoms of Viltrumites cannot withstand high temperatures for long periods of time, with prolonged exposure heavily weakening their strength and durability as the atomic bonds are ripped apart.
- The Scourge Virus: The Scourge Virus is a specially engineered virus that infects Viltrumites and severely hampers their strength and invulnerability, usually resulting in death.
Viltrumites have vulnerabilities that can be exploited.
Robot would later exploit the weakness of vulnerable ears by building special anti-Viltrumite drones constructed of a volcanic tempered titanium alloy. Despite claiming the alloy to be the strongest metal on Earth, Robot acknowledges the fact it would not be enough against the strength of the Viltrumites. So, he used the alloy to create armor fashioned to the exact angles necessary to produce a specific high-pitched resonance frequency upon impact; effectively turning the Viltrumite's overwhelming strength against them since every attack they landed only hurt them, leaving the drones relatively unharmed.
The vicious and nearly indestructible alien beast species known as the Rognarr can tear through and kill Viltrumites, although the Viltrumite Nolan Grayson did not find them especially hard to fend off when he encountered them for the second time.

Viltrumites also suffer from Psychological Instability/Disorders: They focus solely on the pragmatic and logical through a very Darwinistic mindset. This, in turn, has given them almost a cult-like mentality toward their people, world, and the way of the Viltrumite. However, Nolan repeatedly hints that this is primarily the result of living for so long and witnessing countless others and civilizations fall into ruin; the weight of being practically immortal is, in fact, a serious psychological burden. Their cold and callous nature appears to be a coping mechanism, and the active effort to shun emotions and personal connections serves as a means to protect themselves from emotional pain and trauma.
| Weakness | Description |
|---|---|
| Vulnerable Internal Organs | External parts of the Viltrumite body are near-invulnerable, but internal organs can be targeted. |
| Viltrumite-made Weapons | Weapons made by Viltrumites can pierce their own bodies. |
| Vulnerable Ears | Specific high-frequency sounds can disrupt their equilibrium and cause severe pain. |
| Extreme Heat | Prolonged exposure to high temperatures weakens their strength and durability. |
| The Scourge Virus | A virus specifically engineered to target and weaken Viltrumites. |
